I just purchased a new 2320 tractor with a Mid mount mower, 62d drive over deck. I love the tractor and it does a super job mowing, but I have noticed that the air intake screens on the front of the hood seem to fill up with dried grass clippings....without a temperature guage its hard to see if the engine may overheat. I thought I saw a post somehere that others were having the same problem. I have been unable to find it. Has anyone else had this same problem? And if so how do I fix it (besides blowing out the grill each time I use the tractor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

IF it gets hot enough a light will come on, on the dash to let you know.. Personally I try to stop every 30min or so and clean it off so it doesnt get that hot.. Sometimes its not easy to get the stuff out of the grill though..

If the hood was metal I wanted to take some house window screen and some magnets and mount it over the front of the grill.. That was you just pull the maget off one side and the grill would be clean.. Since it is plastic I havent figured out how to mount the screen across the grill..

I remember seeing somewhere on this site, someone who had the same problem, and I think they had to install some type of kit from a mulching mower (some type of seal to stop all the grass blow out) but I have been unable to put my finger on it. I thought someone might remember it also.

Same problem here also. I've never had a overheating problem if the hood screen gets clogged, but when the screen in front of the radiator gets clogged ....look out!

I plan to mount a audible LOUD buzzer that will sound when the overheat light comes on. It is hard to see the high temp light when the sun is shinning brightly. Also plan to install a temp gage this winter.

Have used my 2320 with MMM for almost 2 mowing seasons. I've seen lots of debris fill up the grill screen, but no problems so far with overheating. The fact that the grill isn't flat, that it's corregated, helps since the grass, cottonwood lint, etc can fill up the valleys but the peaks usually stay clear for quite a while to let some air through...

I haven't had nearly as much debris sticking to the screen since I installed the mulch kit. Dealer recommended that I just install it for leaves in the fall, but I leave it on all mowing season and I think it does a good job mulching the grass clippings as well as the leaves.

I posted about the heating problem a few months back. Like the other poster, I clean the screen every 30 minutes or so and keep glancing at the idiot light. The buzzer is a great idea.

I ordered a mulcher kit a few days ago but have not got it in yet. Will see if it helps out for me.

thought about going the flail mower route, but don't want to spend the money and I like the MMM.

I don't know why some folks have problems and others do. Maybe lower humidity and dryer grass in dryer climates like ours makes the difference.

Do you happen to have the part # for the mulching kit? And how much did it cost? I haven't had any overheating problems yet.....but am keeping a watchful eye on the idiot light.

Same problem here (with a 2520). Not to be a smart guy, but the way I solved it was to switch back to my rear mower (not the only reason, of course). I do have a mulch kit for the 62D, so maybe I'll try that and see if it helps.

I was also thinking of making some kind of a screen on a wire frame that would sit a couple of inches ahead of the grille. It could be attached to and supported by the grille guard. Maybe a three-sided affair, like a fireplace screen. Not sure if that would actually help or not, but might be worth a try.

Then again, I really like my rear mower....

Sorry, I don't have the parts number--will get it when I pick up the kit. And sorry again, Buck told me what it cost and I just stuck it in the back of my mind as another purchase that's too expensive. I should get it this week--the kits there but am waiting on something else to come in so will make just one trip. I will pm you when I pick it up.

I really do like my 2320 and the MMM but the screen is aggravating.
