This forum has been so helpful to me over the last few weeks as I made up my mind which make and model of tractor to buy. The least I can do is share my pricing info and purchase experience with you. It may be as helpful to someone as the other posts have been to me.

I purchased from a dealer 10 miles from my home who deals mainly in big farm machines. After meeting with the salesman and reading the forum, I was torn between the 2320 and 2520. The dealer had neither in stock, but had lots of 2305s. I asked if he could have the pair shipped in so I could look at them side by side. He tried to get me to choose one or the other, but I convinced him I was a serious buyer but would not buy if I couldn't compare the 2320 and 2520 side by side.

In less than a week he had both tractors there for me to test drive (service which impressed me, by the way). I finally decided for my needs (mostly mowing, followed by loader work, large garden tillage, and snowplowing) that the extra $2500 or so for the 2520 was just not a good value. (It would have been different if my primary need was loader work.)

My full purchase was:

2320 with R4s
200CX loader w/ 53" bucket and ballast box
62D mower deck with independent lift kit
54" quick-hitch front blade with tilt angle
filter kit for 50-hour service

My purchase price was $17,430, which I calculate to be roughly 13% below the website prices. The tractor has a February manufacture date. Implements were shipped from Deere, not from other dealers. The dealer assembled everything and delivered it to my driveway with a full tank and all the manuals and an extra key exactly when promised. He also agreed to sell me a block heater at his cost.

I might have done better if I'd shopped around more and got multiple quotes as some have done. But in the end I wanted a tractor now, not after summer was half over, this dealer was close and treated me decently, and I felt like I got a fair deal based on what others have said they paid. And of course I got the hats -- the green ones for my boys and pink ones for my girls!

I hope this is helpful. I'd love to hear others' experiences.

Wow lucky you looks like you have a dealer that cares.. Seems as though my JD dealer could care less could not even call me to let me know he had one for me to test. would have liked to compare it to kubota but worried now that if service before the sale sucks what will it be like after. So I guess its going to be Orange for me, as I know they both make a great tractor but the dealership can make or break the deal.

We just purchased a 2320, R4s, 200cx FEL, 54 in drive on deck for 15,300. They also gave me $3500. trade in for my 04 GT245 garden tractor so it came down to 11,800. It did take a lot of dealing between dealers to get to 15,300.

Now I'm anxious for it to arrive so I can use it.
