I'm looking for some type of toolbox/storage to mount on my 2320. More than tools, I need a place for ropes, gloves, trimmer line, chain saw, etc. I'd like to be able to mount a rack on it to carry my trimmer and/or rakes and shovels. My current thinking is to mount an ATV basket/rack made out of expanded metal to the back of the ROPS. Has anyone done anything like this? Any ideas?

Here is the rack I'm considering - Front Basket Racks for Cargo Carrying and Storage

Some guys have accomplished this using re-furbished ammo boxes, others using their ballast boxes. There's always room for a new idea!

I was considering my ballast box since I have not filled it yet, but I kinda want something I can carry on the unit all the time.

By coincidence I bought a toolbox for my tractor JD about and hour ago. The ballast box has a wood cover which is held in place by a cut-in-half and bent U-bolts. The box will go on top of that.
I wanted somewhere's to store the 3ph hardware and maybe a rubber mallet, rags and a few other essentials. This is my second toolbox for that purpose. The first was a 28" box that I bought at Lowes last week. Unfortunately it's not 28" inside. Everything will fit but it has to be arranged just so.
The box that I bought today at Ace hardware is a resin cheepo with a 32" length and a foot height and width. It will overlap both sides of the ballast box by about four inches. The Ace trunk had a price tag on it of $19.95 but when I went up to the cashier she scanned the tag and said $44.50. I wound up paying $19.95 plus tax.
It looks like I got a steal, I just got back from the ace website and they list the pioneer trunk for $41.99. It serves them right for making an erroneous price tag. I wonder if I could use another trunk somewhere?
Of course it won't hold long items like a weedwhacker, but it satisfies my needs.

I put a little toolbox on my 2305 and it holds alot of stuff. Anything large sits on top of my weight box. The last shot is my friends 3000ish tractor with a custom built rack.

Mayor, I think I saw the post about that little box behind your seat before, but for the life of me I can never find it. Where oh where did you find it?

Thanks,

Thanks, guys. I think I'll go with my plan. I don't have a ballast box, and I want something that doesn't interfere with me putting something on the 3pt. I like the last picture Mayor put up, interesting setup.
I'm surprised I haven't seen more folks posting ways they carry their string trimmers. I'm always wrestling with it. What do you guys do?

Thanks.

Funny you should say that. I carry my trimer by putting it in my iMatch. The hooks lock and hold it in. Was also thinking using ATV gun racks but never got around to doing it.

If you have a FEL then you should have a weight box. Your life is worth more then the $175.00 plus whatever you put in it. The little tractors need the weight.

Interesting idea on the iMatch. I haven't gotten an iMatch yet, but have been thinking about it, this may the the rationale for doing it.

I don't (yet) lift a lot of rocks and my dealer didn't encourage me to go with the ballast box. I was a bit surprised. If I'm ever doing anything too heavy, I can always put my tiller or box blade on for extra weight. With the extra weight of the 2320 (and loaded tires) do others feel that the ballast box is a necessity? I'm new to all this, so maybe I just haven't had a heavy load in my FEL yet, but so far I haven't had any trouble.

Thanks.
