Since I bought the tractor, it has been lacking in the light dept. I have been searching all over fo a light that is small enough to fit but put out enough light. I finall found a set of Hella Optilux 1400 series lights that fit the bill.
Here is a link to some specs:
Optilux Auxiliary Lights
I wired them using the relay in the kit, they get power from a 12ga wire that I ran to the starter. I chose 12ga wire so I could run 2 sets of these lights and maybe some other accessories from it. I powered the control side of the relay from the factory JD worklight harness thru a switch. This way I can turn on/shut all lights down with the factory light switch and can select from the factory hood lights, fwd facing ROPS lights and/or the rear ROPS lights.
I mounted the lights on the JD warnig light brushguards. So far I only have the rear lights installed but am going to pick up another set for the front-facing.
Here are a couple pics of how I mounted them:
I mounted the brush guards upside down and mounted the rear facing lights to the bottom side using the holes in the brushguards. I will drill another set of holes in the topside to mount the fwd lights.
Here is the current switch/ relay setup:
The switch is the one that is included in the kit with the foglights and are temporary, I am planning to find an OEM JD 3 position switch off another machine and install into the plastic panel on the left fender.
and here are a couple pics of the lights in action:
I also plan on retrofitting a set of LED bulbs into these lights so my 20 Amp alternator can keep up.
