Tractor
in the process of buying
Hi,

I typed this all out already and my computer ate it so here it goes again.

I have been looking at the 2334 or 2734 tractors. The size is perfect and the FEL is perfect but I have a special situation for a backhoe I need help on.

Questions #1. I have a situation where a couple times a year I need a backhoe with a long reach (max digging depth) to muck out a sump hole that loads up with silt before it funnels into a long culvert so it doesn't plug the culvert from our heavy rains during the monsoon season here in Arizona. It is all soft (sometimes wet) silt runoff, no hard pack digging.

I rented a TLB-325 from Home Depot the other day and it worked okay but was at the end of its reach and I just barely made it to the bottom of the sump. The max digging depth of the 325 according to their web site is 9'-6" but the brochure says 8'-10 inches. Either way it just made it.

The Montana backhoe that would work best for me is the 8600 with a max depth of 9'-0" and a reach of 11'-1".

According to what I read on Montana's web site the 2334/2337 both have a max hyd. pump flow of 7.6 gpm. The 8600 has a Hydraulic Flow Requirement of 5-8 gpm to work. The 7600, which would work but not quite make the depth, requires of 5-6 gpm to work. The 8600 seems idea for my situation.

My long winded question is.. would the 8600 work on the 2334 or 2337 and work properly (not starving for fluid). According to what I read it looks like it would (on the low to middle end of the flow rate) but I'm not a hydraulics guy, just doing my homework before I go to the dealer.

Question #2. (short one).. Is the backhoe on the Montana easily removed like it is on the Kubota or Mahindra (Kubota looks easier to remove). Mahindra uses the sub-frame assembly so it is a bit more work it looks like. I need to be able to remove it (the easier the better) to get into some tight places.

Thanks for any input you can give me before I head off to the dealer.

Well to answer question 1........ The T2334 or T2734 only has 1 backhoe option. The only backhoe available for this model is a 6'6" hoe.
In order to utilize without straining a tractor, the 8'6" I personally think would be best suited on a compact utility tractor no smaller than the 4340.

question 2...... You have two options on how you would like the backhoe mounted.... either by subframe (makes the hoe and tractor combo more stable and rigid) a little longer detach work..... or by 3 point (easy on easy off)

another option that you do have is PTO pump or direct hydraulic. The PTO pump puts less strain on your tractors hydrualics and gives a little better performance but I feel is not needed unless you use the hoe constantly or very frequently.

Hope this helps.
