Ran out of diesel fuel on 2350 John Deere. How do you bleed air out of system to get it back running. All help appreciated. Thank You.

It's possible yours is a self bleeder. Your manual isn't specifically available, but the models below and above yours do self bleed.

I'll assume you've tried starting ?

I don't believe it's self bleed. You have to go to the 2520 or 2720 for that. Check the specs.

You guys are missing the boat here...He is talking about a BIG tractor! John Deere 2350

The "general" way to bleed a diesel is to crack open each line at the injector while cranking the engine. Can be a dangerous 2-person job, and you might need a good battery charger to keep it going. Also be sure not to overheat the starter. Once you get fuel-tighten the line and go to the next one...

Wow Kenny, we sure did. By a mile, wasn't even thinking bigger tractors.

Actually, I think bigger machines are easier to prime. Usually less covers and better access.

Start from your tank and work your way to the injector pump to get a bubble free, solid fuel stream.

Unless you have got lots of air in the system, most of the time this is as far as you will have to go.

If still no go, crack the fuel injector lines at the injectors and crank till fuel starts to appear. Retighten lines and attempt to start.

((Kenny, why do you consider this a dangerous job ?))

I said "it can be..."

I just mean that there are moving parts...like the fan...and if you do not have a way of cranking it yourself then you have to have someone helping crank it while your hands are in there.

It certainly won't make the top ten list of dangerous jobs...

It is the 2350 big John Deere with frt end loader. Just trying to help a friend who borrowed the tractor from a friend. It ran out of diesel and will not start once refueled. It is not like some tractors where you can open a little valve to bleed system. I will try to get it going today if possible. Thank for all the information that you all have sent to me.

Perhaps one of the quickest ways would be to make a phone call to the service manager at a John Deere Dealership and ask!:D

We have a Ford with a broken fuel gauge, and my bro didn't tell me that, and I ran it out of fuel. So I just put some in it and had my Dad drag me down the road and it started after a little bit. Didn't crack any lines. It happeded a month later after someone siphoned all the fuel out of it while it was sitting at my place and we couldn't pull it, so I shot it with ether and it started up. Don't like doing that, but we were in a bind, and it didn't seem to hurt it.

I would try dragging it. That is the least harmful way to do it. And you wont' work your starter over. Put it in a higher gear and it should go. May take a little bit so make sure you are on a backroad somewhere.

Good Luck.
