2350 MFWD slow cranking speed

I have 2 good 800 CCA batteries yet this tractor has never been(even when new) a good cranking tractor.
Starts fine when I get it to roll over fast enough. Starter has been looked at by people that know starters.
I have gone as far as to install this starter onto a larger tractor that I own and it turns it over fine.
Battery cables have been changed to larger gauge.
I have heard that possibly running a separate positive and negative cable for each battery direct to the starter
would improve the condition.
Any thoughts from anyone that may have had this issue??

No direct answer for you, but have you tried turning the steering wheel as you start to crank? Some thoughts that it relieves pressure on the hyd. pump and allows faster turnover.
I think it helps with my smaller 4300, but then my Yanmar fires up within a revolution or two of cranking, so hard to tell for sure.

If your ground cable is connected to the sheet metal of the battery box, replace it with a longer one to the engine block.
Get a destroking valve for the front hydraulic pump.
Try a gear reduction starter.

What engine oil do you use? Does JD offer a thinner, higher quality, winter rated hydraulic fluid like some manufacturers do?

John Deere does offer a low temp HyGard hydraulic oil. I am not sure if it is recommended for that tractor. The dealer should know.
