24\" bucket mounted on a BX23 backhoe

A while back TBN member Stef put up some postings in which he mentioned that he had a 24" bucket for his BX backhoe. I was the lucky recipient of that bucket when he decided to sell it because he was B3030 (lucky /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif). Well I finally got a chance to mount the bucket on my BX23 and have attached a few pictures. I got a chance to do some digging with the bucket and it does pretty good in sandy clay soil with some rocks. It does a great job if you are trying to dig a wide trench with a flat bottom - which is what I am doing at the moment.

That bucket looks huge on the back of that bx. Nice setup.

Thats a big bucket for a BX , but if it does the job, ok!!!

Thats really a grading bucket. For cleanup, dressing topsoil and finish grading. You can use them to dig, but they are hard on the machine and rocks will bend them.

That's pretty much what I intended on using it for. I wanted something that would make it a little easier to strip off topsoil, put a flat bottom on a hole, move larger amounts of material that is already loosened up, etc. Right after I mounted it I tried it out and it works pretty good for grading type work.

Yep, that's why it is called a "cleanout" bucket". They are definitely not meant for digging. But I doubt you can't do a ton of damage to it with the BX hoe. Nice bucket though....that will come in handy for a lot of things. Nice snag!

I'm sure you've seen them on machines cleaning out ditches and such on the side of the road. Sometimes the machine has a wrist on it so they can get a perfectly graded surface.
