I purchased the 2415HST a few months ago and have been very happy with it so far. Just recently I picked up a Leinbach 7300 phd with a 12" auger. My question is on the proper use of the auger. I have been planting some trees which the auger has made much easier. On some holes I am just running the tractor in idle to dig the holes. Am I putting to much strain on the tractor this way.............should I have the throttle up to the auger rating of 540rpm's for each hole?

Thanks -
Meade

If the tractor doesn't sould like it is bogging down or stalling you are not doing anything wrong. I prefer to run at idle when using my post hole digger because when you hit a rock or root I dont like replacing shear pins or hurting the PTO when running it to fast. And I would never run my digger at 540rmp's and would definately not reccomend it and I would think others would agree.

Like I said I run it at idle to start digging and the as I lift it up out of the hole every foot or so I increase the speed to spin the dirt off away from the hole.

They way you describe running it you will be fine and have fun and be safe running your tractor and equipement.
