2425 gearbox noise

Hi I have a brand new 2425 Farm Pro and there is a noise in the gearbox it is intermitent it seems to be under the seat area it comes and goes with clutch but not all the time the tractor only has 12 hours but is 6 months old so no warrenty. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Tractor gear trains are noisy by nature. But the transmission is not under the seat, that's the rear differential. Have you checked the gear oil level? It should be under a square head cap painted red - just forward of the seat

Hi thanks for the resonse gregg it is very hard to determine where the noise is coming from weather it is the throw out bearing echoing back i am not sure but it seems to be there when the second stage of the clutch is engaged and disengaged it does not happen all time and does nothappen when the clutch is fully engaged and disengaged. I had the inspection plate off for the clutch and the noise doesnt appear to be coming from there any help is appreciated

If I'm not mistaken, there are two PTO control levers on that tractor. One acts like a master - that is, PTO engage/disengage. The other is the PTO speed select, which has sort of a quasi-neutral position between speeds. Try disengaging the PTO to see if the noise persists. Try first with the speed select in the middle position, then with the master lever in the Disengage position.

Did you verify your gear oil level? I should have mentioned also, that some owners have had a problem where not enough gear oil from the transmission flows forward into the mid-connect box (creeper or shuttle, whichever you have). But you probably have to remove the mid-connect box cover plate to check that level.

Hi I verified everyhting you said all everything is normal and the noise is still there, like i said difficult to determine where it is coming from but seems to be below gearshift or even a little behind is affected by the clutch and comes and goes but is there most of the time all oil levels are ok pto works normal tractor works normal except there is a noise there dont want to risk doing further damage by using it,

I never adjusted the clutch could that be the problem

When my Jinma was new, 150 hours ago, and I was new to tractors, I noticed was noise in the transmission that came and went. I noticed it immediately. Sometimes it went away when I depressed the clutch and other times it didn't. I finally traced it down to a certain combination of High Range/Low Range and Creeper/Rabbit. It was only in one combination there was this gear rattle.

My trustworthy dealer told me it was normal. It might still be there but I've long since forgotten about it while I enjoy the tractor.

Hi Guys good news got off the phone with Homier and they told me this is a common problem with my tractor i forgot to mention all though my tractor is brand new with only 12 hours on it, it is a 2006 and since it has been sitting for aprox 3 1/2 years there is a bearing located higher up in the gearbox that is lubricated by oil splashing up from the other gears that dries up and caused this noise. The remedy he suggested filling the gearbox to the level of this bearing run for 45 minutes moving tractor through all the gears then change oil filling to correct level. If this doesnt work I will change out the bearing, thanks for all the help guys its muchly apreciated. I will let you know if this procedure fixes it.
