A benchmark, I suppose.... Just completed the 250-hr service on my GC2310. Didn't fool around this time, just removed the panel that goes between the rear fenders on the back- made it a LOT easier to hit the fill hole!

Also tried the trick of shoving a magnet into the suction filter hole, and wasn't disappointed- pulled a nice small handful of steel shavings out. There were some on the screen, but apparently a lot of the shavings end up sitting beneath the screen at the bottom of the screen hole. Great idea, using the magnet. (Tried that on the front axle, too, but didn't get anything.)

Thanks for the pictures and advice. I'll be sure to use a magnet on my next service.

There was another thread that talked about not needing to remove the rear wheel to access the suction filter, but it looks like it's necessary to really see what you're doing and get that long part removed as well as using the magnet, correct? BTW, another way to deal with the difficult trans/hydr fill hole is to use a tube along with the cone--I bought a combo like this at NAPA. It probably took me longer to pour the fluid in though!

Scott, right after I did the 50-hr service almost 3 years ago, I bought a long, flexible neck funnel from NAPA...but darned if I could find it yesterday!!:ashamed:

As far as the tire, it's not hard to remove, I just used a small bottle jack. Besides, that gave me a chance to re-torque (check) the lug nuts. I think the manual says you're supposed to do that each time you use the tractor....:p

The magnet tip was from another poster on TBN!
