Can a 2500 series cub pull a small box blade with a sleeve hitch? Also, is the cub electric sleeve hitch the only one that works? I have seen off brands for a lot cheaper than the 699 cub sleeve price. Thanks again for the information.

Yes, it can easily handle a box blade/sleeve hitch. I've seen an exploded view of the CC brand sleeve hitch (which lists for $959), and it is more robust than any 3rd party sleeve hitch I've seen. There's one on eBay (for $350) that a forum member has, and he says it has worked well for him. So I'm not sure if the extra "robustness" of the CC sleeve hitch is worth the extra $600.

BTW, where did you see a price of $699?

Thanks for the info. I saw that hitch on ebay and it was what I was wondering about. I saw a price quoted somewhere for 699, can't remember exactly. Where did you get the box blade?

I got the box blade from sears.

Why did you build the new mounting bracket? Is the one that comes with the eBay hitch inadequate? The price is so attractive on that hitch I was considering one.

The hitch from epay mounts to the tractors drawbar.

I guess I had several different reasons for using a mounting bracket.

1. The thickness of the steel used for the drawbar seemed....rather thin, compared to the material used for the hitch.

2. I ordered a center mounted actuator. This placed the parts very close to the transmissions dipstick, I could have still checked the fluid...but it looked like a tight fit.

3. I wanted a system that was convenient to install and remove. The mounting bracket for the hitch attaches the same way as the rear weight bracket.

The hitch is very sturdy and well made. The wiring harness was too short for mounting the toggle switch on the dash, so I spliced in some wire, no biggie.

I would purchase from the guy on ebay again. (I ordered the ball hitch adapter today)
I also used a crop cultivator on the hitch, it worked great. And I have a rock rake on order from sears.

Would the same sleeve hitch work on the front for raising and lowering a snowblower?

Thanks Rocko.

I can see the problem now and I agree with you. I'd much rather have the hitch mount into the frame than on the drawbar plate. Looks like the need to fabricate a decent mounting setup is something to consider when comparing the ePay hitch to the factory CC unit...

Seravo.....The hitch can be ordered with a arm welded on it for raising and lowering a front mounted plow or snow blower.
I believe you would have to fabricate the linkage between the arm on the hitch and the front mounted implement.

Jsharp......I had a welding shop give me a quote on the bracket I wanted made for the hitch...they wanted 265.00 to make it.
A guy I work with has a welder and a plasma cutter, I scrounged up the steel for free and my friend made the bracket for free.
Granted, the welding shop would have made a cleaner looking bracket.....but, free is hard to beat /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
