Why are the folding ROPS on the 2520/2720 canted forward, and not straight when in the up position. A lot of other JD's have the folding ROPS and are straight in the up position. Is there any particular reason for this?

Just wondering.....

That is a good question REV.
Now that you mentioned it I'm wondering too.

I think it is for using a backhoe. Since the hoe seat probably sits up higher than on the 2320 they have the ROPS tilted forward to prevent the operator from bumping their head on the ROPS when getting on and off the hoe. You should see some of the European tractors, their ROPS are even more tilted.

The point about the BH is a good one, and that hadn't occurred to me since I don't have a BH on my 2520. I thought it was more because the ROPS mounts far enough behind the seat that canting it forward offers better protection for the operator in the event of the tractor trying to be upside-down.

Does this mean that if I was to install a hoe on my 2305, I would have a head clearance problem since the 2305 is a strait ROPS?
