Both me and a friend of mine have blacktop driveways that need replacement. Neither is very large (about 50' long x 20' wide x maybe 2'' thick)A local contractor can deliver/pickup a rather large dump trailer for haul away. So now what i am wondering is if my new 2520 with 200cx FEL and 46BH is up to the task of digging up the pavement. I still have to work out the cost of the haul away of what I estimate to be about 10-15 tons of pavement for each driveway and also find out whether the dump trailer is low enough for the 200cx to load. So now my questions are has anybody out there already done this and if not do you think the 2520 is up to the task?

I would be shocked if you couldn't do this task either with the loader and/or using the BH.

Like Johndeere2210... I'm sure it'll work fine as well. The only problem is that your new tractor may get a little dirty and the bucket MAY get scratched... I'm still having trouble getting mine dirty... :D :D

I think it will be no problem if approached correctly. The problem I have with my projects so far is loader height. I can't load into anything other than a low trailer. A one ton dump is too high for my 2305. It's close so yours may work if the "large" trailer isn't too high.

My dumpster source delivers dumpsters that open up on the end. If that's the case you can just drive in and load it as high as you can. Of course, the cartage business in NJ is, ahem, special. Support your local "family"-owned businesses!

I use mine frequently to remove driveway rubbish -actually it was a 4100 in the past and now a 2520. I dump the debris into a new Ford F550 with a 11 ft mason dump bed. Plenty of height with the 200cx which gave me a few more inches over the old 410 loader. When it comes down to inches gaining a few inches is a big deal. I think you can reach over the side of a 20 yrd dumpster. If not you can drive into them. You would dump the debris with the FEL not the BH of course ! I fogot to add I did my own driveway excavation with a 4100,410 loader and tooth bar. Didnt take long at all.
BH will be real handy breaking up the roots or thick concrete if any

I used my 4115 w/46 BH to remove an old concrete driveway with no problems. I believe the 2520 is the updraded version of my 4115. :)

I own ahd run a 35c deere mini x,and tear up blacktop alot,If you are going to tear up any of the blacktop with the loader you can bent the side cutter on the bucket and there with be alot of hand loading in the bucket. On the hoe you can damage your littie hoe if you do it the wrong way! start at a edge of the blacktop and use the teeth to get under the edge and pry it up and drop the blacktop and it should crack.I would rent a 8000 lbs mini x with a thumb and go at it,if you can run your hoe you should be able to run a mini x,they have control patten changer in them to go from deere controls( what is what you are running) to cat controls, you also won't have a prob. loading out the spoils with a mini x and much less hand work,A mini x rents for about $200-$250 a day. Here's my mini, and good luck

I agree the Minix might be the way to go - but for speed a Bob Cat, NH, Geihl, etc skid loaders w/tooth bar do it faster than a Mini - and would be what I rent for a big driveway

Getting back to the 2520 & 46BH for the size drive that was mentioned - it does a really good job. With a tooth bar makes it nice and easy. If you arent pressed for time doing multiple ripouts, have fun with the 2520

Have torn up blacktop with a maintainer using the scarfiers. Of course you can get into the base easily that way if you aren't really careful.
