Mowing 2520 & 72"MMM Capabilities & Photos

This post is for anyone wondering about the capabilities of the John Deere 2520 and it's ability to swing the 72"MMM.
Today I cut the marsh grass for the 1st time this year. As long as I drive slow to allow the deck to discharge the clippings, this thing will cut up to 3 1/2 feet tall marsh grass without hesitation or decrease in engine RPM. It's an amazing little tractor. I have been doing this since August of 2006 when I bought the machine new in case anyone is wondering about longevity Oh yeah...I'm also on my original mower deck belt

At the end of the photo trail, there are a couple of pics of where I mowed the front yard after mowing the marsh. The last time I mowed the front was July 28th, so it was long....but the photos show the finished cut, with minimal clumping. Blades are factory high-lift, non mulching.

logankelly - you are correct that everything I am doing is discharging onto uncut grass. Reason is that area is about to get a high tide, and the tide will take away all of the clippings Works awesome in the fall for leaves too.

With sharp blades, those 72's are grass eating machines. I think I've got all the sharpenings I can out of mine, I need to pick up a new set so I can mow fast again. They really do a great job distributing the cuttings out evenly over two cut passes too. I have 2 spots that I wish I had a 2720 on this deck, but the 2520 gets it done but pulls a bit mowing up these two hills. I normally only make 2 passes up each for the headlands then I mow the rest across the hill.
