I have a JD 2520, and I am looking to buy a rear tiller for it. My tractor is at my garage away from where I am now, and I can't seem to find how wide the rear tires are on a 2520? I have the rims flipped to wide position, but thats hardly any difference anyway.

Anyone have that spec handy?

I guess I'm wondering if I should buy a 4 or 5 foot tiller.

My 2520 R4s measure 52". I have a 5' King Kutter and love it!!! Most of the 4' tillers are offset to one side.

Thanks

Does it turn the 5 footer easily?

It knows there is something back there, but 90% of the time its no problem.

Being the **** person I am...
The "wheelbase" is the distance between the front and rear axles.
The "track" is the distance between the wheels on an axle.

I feel much better now...

My thoughts exactly Roy! However when sizing a tiller to a tractors "track" I would recommend going either going wider or narrower than the footprint of your rear tires. Your rear tires compress the soil and if the guide bars of the tiller ride in that track you will not see the depth of till that you could if those tracks are allowed to ride in the freshly tilled soil. I put a 5.5' tiller on a smaller tractor and it performed better because of that factor alone and not the brute horsepower of the tractor.

I couldn't think of the right term, thanks for the clarification.

I'll look for a 5 footer then.
Its got good PTO power in my opinion, so I'll just go whatever speed it can handle.
