2520 independent lift height adjust cable

My independent lift height adjust cable broke while cutting the grass. Has anyone else had this problem? The tractor went over a bump and the mower deck bounced and the cable broke. The tactor only has about 11 hours and not all of that is mowing. A good portion is loader work that didn't have the mower deck installed. Hope this doesn't turn out to be a normal failure.

I have not broke mine yet. I'm worried that the bang up and bang down will break it though. I read about a line restictor to slow down the hydraulics some.
I did lose a cotter pin in one of the pins on the little lift cylinder. The pin slipped out of the bracket and bent. I had to cut it off and put a bolt in for now. JC

Mine has broken also. Same situation. I hit a small bump and the deck fell to the gauge wheels. I just past the 50 hour mark on my machine. The cable seems a bit small for the weight that it is holding. My dealer had me a new cable in about 3 days, I am thinking I may need to order a spare just in case!

Mine broke as well, it is a poor design.

Haven't seen a deck on a 2520, so is independent different from the standard 3 point lift which comes standard?

The Independant lift has it own cylinder to raise/lower the deck. It plugs into the loader hydraulics. It has a cable and dohickie on the fender to adjust cutting height. Not a great design.
There have also been complaints about the front deck wheels. I had not had much of a problem with mine until today. How can we get JD to address these problems? JC

I would print out this page of comments and take it to your dealer and ask them if they might submit something to Deere via DTAC report to Deere and see what happens. When you go into the store just head directly for the Service department.
