Placing the order (like lots of others) for a new 2520, MMM, and 200CX. Great news is that dealer has 2520 in stock. Bad news is that 62D deck is mid-July.

My quandary is that the 72" MMM is early June. If the 72" were drive over it would be no-brainer. My concerns are the ease of install/removal and also potential scalping.

Does anyone have any comments on the 62D versus 72"? Quality of build, etc that might help in my decision?

Thanks!

What do you have now? When I ordered the 2520 I went with the 72" (but it isn't shcedule to be dropped off until next week)

I had many considerations such as yours and here are my thoughts (and I am changing from a 62C on a 2210)

1) Scalping...My lawn is almost all perfectly flat and I am not sure the 5" on either side will be substantially worse

2) On/Off - While the 62D would be substantially easier, other than the extra 100 lbs the 72 process will be similiar to the 62C process I have been fine with for the last 7 years. Also, I really only will go on/off in April when I am mowing and tilling...it will be off all winter and just on for june, july, august, sept

3) Price- Big jump for the 72" deck

4) Fencing - I mow next to about 4000' of fencing...this was the biggest factor to me. With the 2210/62c it was easy to keep the deck up tight to the fence. I wasn't that comfortable with how close the 2520 would be to the fence with the 62 deck, I liked the idea of having the extra 5" clearence on the outside to get the deck next to the fence and keep the ROPS out of the tree limbs

You need to assess your needs carefully. I went with the 62D because I expect to work around a few obstacles and because I have a 6 foot flail on my other tractor.

Good find that you found a 2520 waiting for you on the lot! Where are you? ( don't worry, I won't take it  - I have a 2720 on the way:p)

I did more scalping with my 48" the on the cub cadet. With the 2520 and the 62D I might have hit one little spot on my yard. I didn't have any problem cutting next to or along anything with it. I had no desire to drag another deck under a tractor especially in my gravel!!!! I love the drive over feature and would not go without it now that I have it and used it....

Thanks for the feedback guys. I ended up going with the 62D as the dealer has a used 60" rear finish mower that he is going to let me use until my deck is in. I got really lucky finding in stock. I was speaking with two dealers and they both had one 2520. One of the dealers sold his last week though. I'm in central NC. Will post pics when I get as I know how much I enjoy looking at pictures.

Good for you and for your dealer. That makes a real difference for a customer when the dealer does something practical that really isn't costing them much.

Agreed! Once mine arrives I'll have almost the same as you - I'll have my 332 and now 2520

You might find that you like the rear mower enough to keep it....

You might be right Runner. Although I did borrow my Father in Law's 3320 Cab with 72" RFM and found it cumbersome with all the obstacles in my yard. Great in the open area's but definitely have to keep an eye on it when turning. Was also nice backing into creek area. I can definitely see where RFM is best in some cases.
