I needed to temporarily re-locate my 8x10 shed. I thought I would try it with the 2520, but was too lazy to remove the BB. The BB was wide enough to make a good chain hookup. I was impressed. It pulled it about 80 ft before I needed to turn 90 deg and uphill.

The traction was excellent, but steering had to be done with the brakes. I guess this is why dragging something should be with the draw bar. The brakes were insufficient to make the 90 deg turn in a relatively short distance. So, I had to get the 110 to finish the job with the forks and pulling it backwards...

I would have thought if you let down the 3pt you would have got help from MFWD. You are lucky the chains did not let loose. I suppose you may have had a bullet proof vest and helmet on but we just could not see you with the front end so high;)

I have never had the front end of my JD 3320 off the ground, but the old 8N runs that way very often. With a good load of sand in the BB all the Deere will do is spin the R4 tires, on the 8N with AG tires, the front end lifts and she just keeps pulling, steering with the brakes all the way.

I have found chains to be far safer when something breaks than anything else when pulling a load. I have broken them and have had them slip off a load under tension, and all they have done is sorta just collapse. On the other hand I thought I was going to loose a kidney when a cable I was pulling a log with snapped. The cable flew back and hit me in the lower back almost knocking me off my tractor. It left me black, blue, and in pain for several days. I am not saying that a chain can't kill you, so take it easy no matter what.

You should have filled the bucket up with a good load of dirt!

I was not suggesting the chain would come at him only the broken link. I have a dent in my tailgate of p/u from pulling out evergreen bushes. Pretractor of course

I agree, a broke link could hurt mighty bad. I mostly broke chains and cables by snatching things, something I do not do with the 3320. With the 8N I would tie the chain to the top link of the BB and take off, when the slack came out of the chain what ever I was tied to either moved or the 8N came to a sudden stop with the front tires in the clouds. I never broke anything on the 60 year old tractor by snatching, but the BB and chains have taken a beating.

I moved mine by hanging it on the trailer hitch on my pickup with a chain (before I had a tractor) which worked real well. I guess pulling from the drawbar and having some extra weight on the front would be the way to go if moving it with the 2520. Still, the good thing about using the three-point is that you can lift the front of the shed up a little so it will slide easier.

I kind of wondered if there might be a way to move it on the pallet forks, but I'm not sure how much a shed that size weighs. More than 800 lbs?

I ended up using my pallet forks on the 110 to finish moving it up hill. It is too long for the forks themselves, so I ended up just using the forks through the chain and dragged backwards.

Also, the shed was not empty. I was too lazy to take the stuff out and put them back in. :)

Interesting test for the 2520... :) On the bottom of the 110 hoe - on each side - are strap down loops for securing the tractor while trailering.

A chain bridle (nylon tow strap) or individual chains from each skid connected to the 110 and you could tow that shed "wherever you wanted"!
