JD 2520
I have a JD 2520 with 56 hours on it that had a leak from the right rear axle. I used it to till over the garden recently when I drove it into the garage I noticed a couple little puddles of oil on the floor. I looked and saw oil and dirt on the inside of the right rear wheel rim also on the axle. I have cleaned the rim and axle and have used it a little but have not had a leak since. Is it possible for the seal to leak once and reset some how so as not to leak. I will tell the dealer since it is still under warranty. Has anyone else had this happen.

I had 60 hours on mine when i noticed that it was seaping, but i watched it for a while and it started to get worse that hotter it got outside or the more i worked it, mine was off warr because of the time period, and i called the dealer they told me about 800 bucks to fix it, so i baught all the bearing and seals from them and took it apart myself. The problem is that the other side is starting to do that now. :-(

I wonder if it just got hot enough that it was pushing some fluid out the seal. Since it has 56 hours, was the 50 hour service just recently done?

Yes the 50 hour service was done at 50 hrs. But if a seal leaks once I guess it will continue to leak in the future. Still no leaks since that day but have not worked it very hard since.

I wonder if they over filled it slightly, and when the fluid heated up, it pushed some out of the seal. Seems odd it would do that with the axle seal, but it's hard to say how the venting works internally between the various parts of the transaxle.
