I am going to get a 2520 and its main use will be to mow, and do some occasional disc. or dirt work... should I go with the Turf tires or the R-4 tires

if mowing is your main task. get turf tires. if you want to dig in the dirt and get a bite.
R4's are better. but if your on sod grass and turn sharp it leaves tracks.
and if your on grass with R4's in 4WD  its ugly.
Dont ask me how i know this...:(
But i have a loader and backhoe on mine so it weighs around 4000 pounds.
if you just got a mower on. the ground weight wont be so bad.;)

Chris...:)

I mow with my R4s, with just the mower and bagger installed it's not too bad, but my lawn is hardly golf-course quality. In soft areas there are significant treadmarks from the R4s, but when I use the tractor for other reasons I really appreciate the bite. In retrospect, I spent a ton of money on making my 2520 a lawnmower, money probably better spent on a nice ZTR. Live and learn :)

Turf tires, and see if you can do like I did and get an extra set of tires and wheels - used. I Had standard R-3s, but even they were making ruts (driver new to larger tractor, too excited to remember clayish wet soil and not to turn sharp!), so I was looking around and found a set of special tuirfs on ebay, waited for the auction to fail, and got the tires $ wheels for about 300 lower than the auction for a brand new set of Special turfs, and now after a few trial runs on my grass, you can tell where the tractor has been, bit it is only temporary. and boy did my ride get a lot more softer!

JDbower, I am sure that something will come-up again and you will be very glad you bought the full tractor - have you lifted the gorceries over the deck near the kitch window yet? how about utilizing the Loader Bucket scaffold trick to change elevated light bulbs? Or to put shingles on the Shed Roof?

I certainly appreciate the CUT over a simple mower, just recently I got to carry my wife's big potted plants in the loader. The winter before last I didn't have a tractor so they threw me a snowstorm bigger than my blower could handle, this winter with the loader raring to go I got a dusting :) Tilling up the garden last week and moving the mulch pile away from a future construction site make the 2520 well worth the investment.

I just wish instead of investing in the 62D, MMM lift kit (especially now that I know about the issue with the independent lift and my backhoe), and PowerFlow bagger I had spent that money on a standalone mower to supplement the 2520.

Oh Geez, don't mention baggers, I refuse to buy one of those for any of my CUTs as I just don't wanna pay the bucks, and shield my ears even more from the noise of 2 motors!

Just a little cheap when it comes to baggers:rolleyes:
