2520 Transmission Whine

I just got my new 2520, and I think I read somewhere that the Hydrostatic Transmission in the 20 series models have a pretty good whine to them. I also have an X495, but the 2520 is a far more noticeable (louder) whining noise. Almost sounds like it's straining.

Is this normal?

Does it get any quieter as it breaks in, or is this just the way they
operate?

I noticed in your other thread, you said you are mowing in high range. It seems to make more noise in high range than low, but it's fairly noisy in both. Mine has 164 hours on it and still makes quite a bit of noise. I believe it is normal.

By the way, congrats on the new machine, I know you'll be happy with it.

Normal. High range is usually louder as well.

Hi is really loud, and sounds like it is straining. I rarely use Hi for anything anyway. Its not really made to do any work in hi.
Low doesn't make alot of noise, or I am just really used to it and don't notice it anymore. :thumbsup:

Are you running HyGard Standard or LowVisc HyGard ?
Big difference in transmission pump noise between these
two different viscosities.

Well, after 10 years on TBN, I've found most HST owner operators are whiners (unlike us Strong Silent Manly Gear Men)
