Hey guys,

My 2538L FEL all of a sudden loses pressure on the curl. No leaks anywhere, operates just fine. (up down, curl, dump) But if you just rest your finger on the joystick, the bucket loses its curl (and stabilizing pressure). and goes into full dump mode.

Has anybody actually torn apart the control valve assembly? I suspect there is a seal or O-ring that is faulty. The owner's manual is of no help (big surprise), and I went to the local dealer, and he told me that anytime he's had an issue with the control valve assembly, Mahindra tells him to replace the entire assembly. Mine is made by Besko. Haven't been able to find any replacements on line, or parts for it.

So any help you guys can give me would be most appreciated. I'm planning on tearing it apart tomorrow, and if I F-it up, so be it. Probably have to buy a new control valve assembly anyway.

Took the valve control off today and inspected it. As it turns out there are 2 metal cylinder "covers" that cover the spring assembly on the rear of the control valve. I've managed to lose one of those metal cylindrical covers.

The valve is made by Besko. Anybody got a source where I could pick up that part, or an interchangable part? Dealer wasn't any help. Wanted to sell me an entire $1200 control valve assembly for a $5 piece of metal.

Just an update for anybody that might have a problem in the future.

The cover from the spring assembly was not the only thing that was lost. As it turns out, there is a "rats nest" of components under that cover (according to a Mahindra mechanic at a local dealer). He told me the cover replacement would not solve my problem.

So...I went on line, found a source for a non-OEM control valve (there are several). Called up the company, talked to a really knowledgeable product specialist, and ordered a complete replacement valve assembly for ¼th the cost of the OEM valve. And it looks pretty much the same. GPM is greater on the new one than the OEM, and the ports were a different size. So I had to get adapter fittings from a local hydraulic supply house. Cost about $75 for the fittings.

Got it home, replumbed it, and it works really well. Couple of differences from the OEM, but nothing major. I was even able to mount it to the mounting bracket on the tractor without having to fabricate a transition bracket.

One point worth noting, on the 2538/2638 control valve the 3 pt hitch oil flow, goes thru the joystick control valve, as a "power beyond". It uses a port on the control valve but is not controled by the joystick at all. But you need the power beyond port sleeve adapter from the replacement manufacturer. You can't just open the port and plumb in the 3 pt hitch line. It needs the adapter to work properly. that was the one mistake I made. I didn't get the power beyond adapter at the original point of purchase. Installed one today, and back to 100%.

Just FYI for you guys if you ever have to replace the control valve unit. Mahindra does not sell parts to their valve, and trying to reach Besko (maker of the valve assembly) iin Korea, is useless.

It does look the same, but it's a completely different model with different GPM and flow control. Thanx for the tip though

Was that not a warranty issue?

Not part of the drive train. Mine is a 2016 model, so the 1 year bumper to bumper is expired by a bunch. Not even sure they offer the 1 yr BtB anymore, and it may have just been the dealer offering it.

The 5145 has 5 years power train and 2 years btb
