2538 oil change capacity

Changed the oil and filter in my 2538 today The book says capacity is 5 liters, however when I changed it today it took 6 liters to get it just below the full mark. Maybe the 5 liters in book is without filter change. How much oil has everyone else been having to use when changing oil in there 2538.

Mine took 7 1/4 quarts w/ mahindra filter. Reading is a tad below the full mark after start-up and settle. Oil drained from both plugs.

Mine took about 7 quarts. 6 certainly isn't enough, esp with filter change.

My 1538 took 8 quarts oil with a new Mahindra oil filter to read full after startup and settle. Same engine as 2538 but maybe oil pan is different resulting in slightly different capacity? Make sure you drain both plugs.

I did drain both plugs, and didn't much drain out of one side but the little that was in there was quite a bit dirtier than what came out of the other side.

Yes the first one you drain will always have more oil come out. The second one will only drain what remains on that side of the driveshaft hump. Hope that makes sense.

Does anyone have part numbers for the filters? To do oil,fuel and air cleaner?

• Oil filter: 51324
• Air filters: 46489 & 46490
• Fuel (1st): 33993
• Hydraulic: 51586 (Same # for Duramax brand)
• Fuel filter with water accumulator and sensor housing: Bosch: # F002 H22 025

I get most of mine from ebay and Amazon. Doing my 1500 hour service tomorrow. All fluids, filters, grease, inspection, etc.
