What does that cable operate and also want to know size of clutch dish and where to buy new clutch assembly.

Attached a parts picture. Are you talking about this cable? Maybe take a picture. If you have the synchro transmission, it looks like a shifter interlock that makes sure the clutch is depressed to prevent forced shifting

Your best luck at getting the right clutch for the 254 is Tractor Clutches R US, TractorClutchesRUs - Home. I finally got the correct clutch for my 244 from them.
