2550 broken hood mounts - update

I started a new thread because when I took the hood to the dealer we checked several of the new NEVER run units on the floor and found broken/cracked hinge mounts on 1 of them, a piece actually fell out when the service manager was opening and closing the hood and it just happened to be another 2550.

So it seems heat is not the cause.

It is either a design/material issue, an assembly issue or maybe both.

If there was any doubt before there certainly isn't now. Improper molding or assembly caused a stress fracture. None of which were done by the user. Why am I not surprised.

The good part is it's a freebie fix under warranty and there's a good chance your dealer will assemble it properly.

Dronning, if your case was like mine, and it appears it is, my 2554 had 1 hour on it and all four of the hood mounting points broke. I was none too pleased about it either. But I did buy from a dealer, new here in town, and he will make a go of business, he took good care of thinngs, took a brand new unit out of a crate, replaced the hood, and it appears to have been overtorqued at the factory. Now have 15 hrs. on my CUB and lovin' it. However with that 3 yrs warranty, believe you me, I'm looking hard for even the slightest crack. Other than that, I really enjoy this little tractor. oh, and that deck wash is just a mess IMO. Hope this helps you feel better. I was like you after reading all these posts of melting hoods, and all, but I'm much better now.
