2555 HST Cab delivered today ....

My carts have swivel casters on all corners.... no handle. Moving it is an experience... use a big oak wheelbarrow handle to kind of lever it around in the direction I want it to go... Kind of like herding cats until I get it where I want it...

I used two fixed and two swivel casters so I could maintain a little control. I also have gravel to run it on since it will be in my RV shed. I might have to drop a sheet or two of plywood down to roll it around on. I got casters with six inch wheels and a 600lb rating so those should do the trick. I guess anything is better than trying to back the tractor into position close enough to install the backhoe.

One of these days I'm gonna have to get some cameras installed on this thing so I can see.

Jerry, if you don't mind me asking, why did you decide on the 2555 over the 3550?

Jerry, if you don't mind me asking, why did you decide on the 2555 over the 3550?

I have a 5035 HST, which is the old Tier 3 3550. The 3550 is a bigger/badder tractor than the 2555, and has a nicer cab. A little more expensive, but again, a lot more tractor. I sold my old JD 2240 Reverser, which I used as my 3pt tractor during the summer when my hoe was on the 5035. If I went with a 3550 I would have to put on an Erskine front blower, and the Erskine chain box at the rear kind of keeps you from using the 3pt when it is on. With the 2555 undercarriage, it's main front/back support is the drawbar, which takes the blow if you run the blower into something [ or front blade if you buy one ]. The front pin basically only holds the weight of the blower/subassy up. The 3PT is still available. With the 2555 I could get a midPTO. And, I think the Mahindra 78" blower is built better than the Erskine.. especially in the ' clean up before you put it back in the barn ' design. I looked at other tractors, but none could give me a big front blower at any price similar, and most of them needed DEF/burn cycles [ no Mahindra mCRD system ]. The tractor listed out a little over $50k, and I only paid 43K cash. So, they kind of gave me the blower/sub assembly for free since I paid cash. [ at least, that is the way I am thinking about it :) ]. The 2555 runs at a lower RPM at PTO speed, cab is good 'nuff, want to hear that little Holset turbo when she is blowing snow, midPTO... But she is definitely a different animal than that 3550...

Hi JerryK. Nice machine. I'm not quite getting the design. What picks the blower off the ground when you need to travel? Is it connected to the loader in some way or does it have a vertical hydraulic cylinder to pick it up?

The undercarriage has a hyd cyl in it that lifts the blower, or broom/front blade/whatever you have pin'd to it. That has hoses that hook up to the loader valve up/down. The chute rotate has hoses that hook to the loader valve left/right. Normally the FEL is removed before you use the undercharge. They choose to block the FEL up and ship it to me like that. I offered to take my trailer into the big city and pick that part up. But they said that is how they normally ship a tractor with a front blower. Zaremba Equipment, Gaylord, Michigan is where I bought it. BIG dealership. Sells lots of big trucks, ZTR's, tractors, etc...

That makes sense. Pretty neat contraption. I'm jealous. We don't get enough snow here (regularly) to justify something like that. Good luck with it.

Blower sounds like the main reason, enough said.

Thanks. ;)
