jd 1026r
about a month ago i traded my 2210 and opted to keep the 260 backhoe and 47 snowblower

i purchased my tractor "in the crate" electing to install options myself based on my experience installing power beyond and 260 backhoe on my 2210

i will say it is a great experience learning about how the tractor goes together and componet systems

FYI there are two plugs on the back of the tractor joystick plumbing block - as the power beyond for the 1026r reroutes the lines from the main case vs the 2210 which was an independent system

To the best of our knowledge; the dealer and myself; the 1026r subframe kit is correct and according to all sales literature the 260 backhoe is compatable with the 1026r

In the picture below the new 260 subframe for the 1026r is much taller than the mating side from the 260 backhoe from my 2210- it should also be noted that the PTO shield with the rubber flap must also be removed due to interference with the swing cylinder mounting point - i find the removal of a PTO shield against John Deere Safety Philosophy - this was my first warning flag something was wrong

this leads me to believe that there are two or more versions of the 260 backhoe - an early unit for the 2210 and a later unit for the 2305 and maybe a third for the One Series- my dealer is checking something called D-tech(?) to confirm

It would be a great help if any members with 1026r TLB's could measure the the center to center mounting pin points on their newer 260 backhoe - I would like to verify the 1026r side of my subframe kit is correct

anyone who might have info on 260 build codes please post them

I have yet to check JD-Parts

Can't help you with this problem ..Surprised about you keeping your hoe.. Dealer yesterday told me they would rather have my old hoe and fel ,instead of me keeping my bh and just buying subframe and new fel.
Said they could sell a used tractor and used attachments quicker and easier than needing to buy one new attachment to put on used tractor.
Good luck on getting yours connected.

The Official Answer
Solution Number: 90923

Solution Summary: The 260 Backhoe will not mount on the 1023E or the 1026R

Publication Date: Jan 9 2012

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**Paper copies of solutions may not be the most current solutions**

Complaint or Symptom :
The 260 backhoe frame will not line up with the tractors sub-frame mounting plates. The upper and lower mounting points are to close together to insert the pins.

Problem or Situation :
The older 13 digit SN# backhoes are not compatible with the 1023E and 1026R and can not be easily converted.

The backhoe frames were updated from two mounting points, on each side, to three to allow compatibility with the 1023E and 1026R.

Solution :
The 1023E and the 1026R are only compatible with 17 digit SN# backhoes with the updated mainframe.

saw this in another forum - maybe it's the same OP? :)

Another alternative, if you have access to a good welding shop and skilled fabricator, cut off the lower part of the bracket and extend it down the extra distance. JD may have stretched the height there on the backhoe subframe for added strength. Those 260's really are easy to slam when you're raising the boom. The valves aren't nearly as smooth as the larger units I'm used to running.
