I purchased a used 2610D and when I got it the front left knuckle seal was leaking. So, I decided to replace all seals and bearings in the front end. 1st order of buisness was to purchase an owners manual, a parts manual, and a service manual. Once that was done I decided to purchase oil filters and oil and changed oil.

1st issue owners manual states 4.8 quarts to fill oil pan. Owners manual IS for a 2610D. My tractor took almost 7 quarts to fill oil pan with filter! NOW the service manual I was sent was for a 336D and it says the 336 engine will take 6.8 quarts!!!

2nd issue: once my bearings and seals arrved I could tell immediately that the seals were too small (75mm od and 60mm ID) After measuring everything I found I needed 80mm OD x 64mm ID seals. Found on the internet that SOME 2610D's have whats called a HEAVY DUTY front end. So I ordered the correct seals and everything is great.

SO now what I would like to know is what else is "DIFFERENT" on a HD 2610D tractor? Is the motor bigger? 6.8 quarts is what a 336 takes and it is a 1.5 liter motor instead of a 1.3 liter. Is the motor different in a 2610D/HD? Bearing in front are the same, what about stuff in the rear end? What about the transmission? How can I tell exactly what motor I have?

Your seller or the dealer who first had it in this country would be your best source for this information, as no one else can be sure that you don't have mixed components.

How can I tell exactly what motor I have?
Engine model and serial should be on left of block.

Thanks for info, but seller was a dealership that got the tractor from an estate auction. Not sure original owner is still living. Is there a way to track the importing company?

Checked engine #s and they say 3T80D which is a 1.3 liter motor. Seen also a stamp on trans by shifter that says 2610D. So, I suppose I have the correct engine and trans. even thou some components may be Heavy Duty. I am still a little confused about my owner's manual being in accurate. It is going to get real fustrating if when i change my trans/hydo oil and I purchase 25 quarts of fluid and its not enough. I do not even know what kind/weight of oil to use. Service manual says I need SAE 30 WT this time of year and owner's manual states 15w-40? I am using 30WT now.

Service manual shows 2 seals at front end knuckles an upper and lower. Mine has only one plus a steel collar and a sleeve. I am not sure at this point the manuals were a good investment. All they have done is confuse me and make me order the wrong parts.

I double checked the original Japanese 2610 manual & it does call for 4.8 qts of oil. So, unless the Japanese made a mistake on that manual, it should be correct for a 2610. I have never heard of a HD version though.

I can't imagine them making a completely different version of that block for an "HD" version just to take a couple more qts of oil. I suspect that your dipstick is just too short or not the correct one for the tractor.

Like I told you on the phone, the 15w40 oil is a little newer and was not common when the service manual was made. Use the 15w40 oil and you'll be fine.

I suppose the dip stick could be wrong. I have no way of checking it for accuracy. All I can do at this point is fill to full mark on dip stick. Does anyone know what the factory length of the dip stick should be? The one I have is o-ringed and appears to be the orginal.

If you go to Fredrick's web site and click on the pdf that shows front end parts you can see the 336 and 2610 have some parts for a HD version.

my operation manual for the 336 .has 6,8 with filter and that is about what my 3110 took.
