Well I had a stuck rear brake and had to tap on the brake arm under the foot rest. Once I freed up the brake the tractor would not move in any gear. I put it in 4X4 and it moves real good. The front end in pulling tractor. When I put it in 2 wheel drive I can get it to move if I push on the differential lock.

Any ideas as to what I have broken....I need to get this fixed as I use the tractor for snow removal and it has much less traction with only 1 rear tire putting power to the ground....with diff lock engaged.

Need to order broken part or fix asap thanks...

By the way my turbo is still running fine.... :)

The part that has broken is most likely the stub axle. I broke one on the left side a couple years ago in my 1720D. The spline snapped where it goes into the differential basket.
It would also move in 4wd and if the differential lock was engaged in 2wd. A whole lot of parts have to come apart before you can access the stub axle. It also took me awhile before I could
locate a replacement. The part was also quite pricey. I agree with Winston, it is either part # 9 or 61 and you will likely need to pull it apart before knowing for sure which side is the problem.
Of course I guessed wrong and took the right side apart and found it was the left one that had broke.

Jack up one side, lock the diff and see if it will move. If it does, the side you jacked up is the broken side.

Make sure it is in gear for this test. Just wondering if anyone has a parts drawing of the 2610 rear end that could be posted?? :confused3:

I sure do appriciate the help. Can't imagine how a stuck brake would cause this but it is what it is.

Guess I will get started on looking for a replacment part. I use the JD850 repair manual for most of my work.. My 2610D is pretty close to the JD850. Alot closer then the YM336 manual. So I am guessing a parts drawing of a 336 or a JD850 would be as close as anyone will be able to get. I do not have a parts drawing of the 2610D rear....wish I did.

Its pretty easy to tell which tire is not working....Well in snow and ice it is. My left side tire had the brake issue. If I shift out of 4X4 the right tire will try to spin JUST A LITTLE and tractor will slow down and stop. Plus in the snow and ice in 4X4 its pretty simple to see which tires are spinning and which are not with Dif loc engaged.

I guess I will have to wire the Dif Loc pedal in the down position and use the tractor until I have the time next spring to tear everything down and fix.

Found a stub, is this the part?

I believe that is the front four wheel drive stub axle. Yanmar Tractor Parts: 4WD STUB AXLE - READ NOTES!

Found this site where the exact same thing happened, and has great photos....and it shows photos of a 2610 too.

A little leary about buying parts manuals....last time I ordered a repair manual for my 2610D I got a repair manual for a 336. Was told is was close enough but the engine is not even the same size.

I will call Hoyles and get a part number to order. Thanks.

The parts manuals are in Japanese but the drawings are good. To me, they are as valuable as the cousin repair manuals. Maybe more so. It will be just for your 2610, no cousin. Keep us informed and maybe take a few pictures with your findings. :thumbsup:

Well Hoye's found one....the place they found wants just at $1000 for it. A 193 mm long steel pinion....$1000!!!!

Thats about $130 per inch....wow. I would buy an old beat up 2610 for $3K or $4K before I would pay a grand for a 8 inch long shaft, and I would have a billion dollars worth of extra spare parts.

Here is an ad for a billion dollar tractor for only $5K....what a deal.

This tractor has 2 yes 2 brake pinions worth $1000 apiece thats $2K
It has $1K worth of tires and rims.
Motor has to be worth at least $1K
Just as a parts tractor its well worth the $5K!!!
