Dont worry I would never pay $1000 for a final drive/Brake Pinion shaft.
Once I take it appart I will evaluate my options with parts that I broke.
But if it is my brake pinionn shaft, here is what I am going to do.
1) buy a JD 850 Brake Pinion Shaft....used $75-$100 Its a very close fit. 16T-9T-12T 7.5 inches long(190mm) with 1.9 inch diameter on the 16T side and 1.35 inch diameter on the 12T side.
2) Take it to machine shop to convert 12T side to 24T....quoted cost was $100 to $150.
3) Now I would have a 16T-9T-24T shaft that is only 3 mm shorter than OEM and for a cost of around $250.
4) Smile and let the $1000 shafts, waste away in their salvage yards. They will be forced to find fools to buy them or reduce the price to a respectable $250 or so.
