Thanks Guys! Hey Clundog, how do you like it? Any regrets? Trying to decide if the 2815 hst is worth the extra $. I like the 2615 hst.
I own a 2615 HST, and I asked myself that same question. I was also curious about all of the bigger 15 series. Here is what I concluded: I prefer to have the fuel tank behind the seat. That is one reason I did not go with a New Holland TC30 . I really prefer the metal hood, and the more standard look of a hardworking construction tractor as in the 20, 26, 30 models. My dealer agrees with me, and he doesn't care for the plastic hood.
However, the 15 series is a very superior tractor, and I will place mine against any model in any color, and work circles around them. It is easy to see why Mahindra proudly put their name on this wonderful Mitsubishi built machine. If anyone gets in the cushy seat of a Mahindra 15 series tractor; they will forget all about cup holders, switches, and pumpkins. Not to mention Forest Green with envy. Oh Deere!
All that said, if you prefer the 2815, why not get it if you need it. It offers a bit more operator room for long legs. And it looks a bit sexy if you like it like that. I'm just not a fan of any brand tractor with that newer alien appearance. Or with plastic body parts.
I couldn't justify going any bigger than 2615 for myself, but back then the 28 hp. was not available. I still don't see a great deal of difference in what you'd get for the extra money. Put a toothbar on a 2615 and you have a little bull on your hands when it comes to digging. That is especially true of the 2015 with its 5.8" digging depth below grade.
Get what you want. For example. I loved, and was sold on the idea of hydro. At age 63, I have been driving a stick shift truck since 1980. I don't want to shift a tractor. It was a thousand dollars extra for hydro. I decided I would want to own this tractor for the rest of my life. Since I plan on making it to beyond 100, I figure that $1000 over the next 30 plus years is kind of like a dot on the map of the world. Heck, even if I kick off in ten years, it only cost me an extra hundred bucks a year to enjoy myself on my tractor. Did I say a hundred a year? How about eight dollars a month. Just a couple of six packs, or about $.27 a day.
Happy tractoring, and be safe.
Aching Back, but on the mend.
