Hey guys....Completely new to tractors and now we need one. I have been reading this forum for a few days and this is like heaven to me. It seems that the 2615 HST is right up my alley as far as capability vs. need.

I have a weird question. I think I read somewhere that people doubted that the 2615 3 point hitch would raise high enough to run a PTO post hole digger....Anyone have any info on this? Also, is a live vs. independent PTO worth worrying about on this? The PHD will be the most used PTO driven attachment (that I know of).

Thank you in advance....noob Michael

The 2615 will have no problem raising a 3PH PHD high enough. Also what you are looking for is live PTO, which means you can stop the tractor without stopping the pto. Independent PTO accomplishes the same thing, so either is works fine.

I second that. My 2015 Gear drive lifts high enough for my Howse PHD, and the 2615 is higher yet. Power is not an issue. And while I kinda wish I had a live PTO for implements like my 3point snowblower, and brush hog, (because of constant direction changes) It's not as necessary for stationary implements like chippers, generators, and I would argue, post hole diggers. The don't require a "spool-up time" like a brush hog, because they are such a low RPM, and the tractor is stationary while you're using it.

HOWEVER, with PHD's, sometimes it is necessary to move forward or backward just a bit to keep the auger straight as you bore, and thats where I imagine the HST comes in handy.

But if your looking at the 2615, both the HST and gear are live PTOs.

I had a Speeco PHD and it was close as far as getting it high enough on my 2615. There wasn't a lot of clearance. Maybe some other brands are better.

If you need to get over a lot of dips and valleys then you may want to look for a short PHD auger.

I have the Speeco on my 7205 Cub/2015M and there is no problem. It is at least a foot off the ground at full lift. You should be able to adjust the downlinks to control the clearance. The only time clearance is a problem is with th 18" auger extender in place.

I haven't had any issues with clearance on my PHD. I run most of my implements at the highest downlink setting which makes a huge difference with proper toplink adjustment.
