Any time I use my bush hog or finishing mower the heat gauge needle gets almost into the overheat area. In other words, it is almost right on the line b/t normal and overheat. The tractor only has 28 hours on it. I normally mow in the middle gear and bush hog in the low gear at the suggested rpms on the tractor. My bush hog is 5 feet wide and my finishing mower is 6 feet wide. Do the 2615 models normally run toward the hot end? Any suggestions?

They do not run hot. How clean is the radiator? It can clog up with fine debris in the fins in a matter of just an acre or two of mowing if the conditions are right.

I have a mahindra 4500 6ft mower can run in 100 degree weather will not overheat at all, but as Dave mentioned you have to keep your radiator clean on any tractor.

in front of the radiator there is a screen to protect it from grass seeds and debris, pull up on it and take it out .
Give it a gentle shake & all the problems will shake right off of it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Like Dave said its probably your screen.

I would bet that the front air intakes are clogging at speed. When you back off to idle the vacuum drops and the grass debris falls off and all seems well. My 7205 Cub does the same thing. You have to stop and clean those **** intake screens too often! Don't forget the one in front of the radiator too.....

I've never seen my temp gauge go above about 1/2 way up the "normal" (green) range, even after brush cutting for a couple of hours. Maybe the gear models don't run quite as hot as the HST models, who knows? I do make a point to check the radiator screen (the removable one) anytime I get off the tractor.

Run your tractor a max rpm and drop you range to low and run with the full hst pedal for max speed.

Thing is, I don't have a HST pedal. I have a 2615 4WD (gear). I thought that would have been clear when I said, ( Maybe the gear models don't run quite as hot as the HST models, who knows?) Sorry for any confusion.

I have a KK BB60 boxblade coming this afternoon. I'll see if I can get my tractor hot using the bb.

Where would the air intake screens be located? I know where the radiator screen is and I cleaned it because it was rather filthy.

Run it at max rpms or max rpms suggested for using the rear pto? Also, I am assuming if I do this then it will not run toward the hot end supposing I make sure the radiator screen is clean?
