The parking brake on my 2615HST won't hold at all in neutral and the tractor creeps while in gear with the parking brake on. I can't find anywhere to make an adjustment on this. The foot brake works and the pedal play is adjusted properly. Any ideas?

Steve,

I just got my 3015 HST yesterday and checked it out. I also read the manual from cover to cover.

I think that you are correct in that there is no adjustment for the parking brake. However, the brakes are adjustable, as described in the Op. Manual and this is the way that the parking brake is adjusted. If you "Tighten" or adjust the regular brakes so that there is less pedal throw, the parking brake will also be adjusted as well.

I think this is true but, haven't tried it yet myself.

I have read about the same problem here recently, about the parking brake not holding, which was due to wearing of the teeth on the set lever. I have a bit of the same problem with my 2810 but usually have to use extra pressure on the brake to get it to set. Must be a design flaw- nothing more aggravating than thinking you have the brake set and jumping down to have the engine die.I dont think your problem could be worn teeth since its new, but maybe if you try extra pressure on the brake it may help. When you do release the brake, make sure the pedal comes all the way up, sometimes mine doesnt and"drags" a little. I just instinctively pull up on the pedal with my boot top when releasing the pedal- guess I could just adjust it correctly- seems like I cant get to everything!Good luck and have fun- Dave

I have no problem with the lever locking in and staying there, and have checked the teeth with a flashlight (they are in excellent shape and the lever is locked in very well). I may go ahead and adjust the brake pedal with less play, as Eric suggested, however, will wait to see if there are any more suggestions here because the pedal adjustment is currently in agreement with the manual's suggestion. Thanks for your help. I have only 150 hours on this machine and am very happy with it.

Eric was right: I adjusted the brakes a little tighter, still keeping close to an inch of pedal play, and they and the parking brake are back in service. I hadn't realized the brakes themselves were weak--using the HST you hardly need them--but they apparently were. Thanks for the suggestions.
