2615HST: Engaging rear PTO

When engaging or disengaging the rear PTO I depress the clutch but I can still hear gear clicking for a bit - like gears not fully stopped. The PTO lever has to be 'worked' to slip in and out of gear. Is this normal or do I need to adjust the clutch a bit?

This is the procedure I have started to use that I found works best:
Reduce RPM to idle
Depress clutch
Wait a second or two
Engage/Disengage PTO

Thats the same way my Farmtrac works, sounds normal.

I noticed that on my 2615HST too. But only when the implement on back (such as rotary cutter) is still spinning and only when disengaging. I don't have any noise engaging an implement from a dead stop. Most other attachments stop turning when you push the clutch. If you try pushing the clutch half way in you can disengage the PTO lever without the noise. I engage all moving implements at idle then bring up to speed.

That is normal operation. The PTO gears are not syncronized, so they have to almost come to a complete stop to engage them. When you push the clutch, the gears are still spinning from inertia, and when they slow down enough you can then engage your pto. This is a normal trait with all tractors that you have to clutch when engaging the pto. I know you have to wait a second to engage, but this system is the simplest and the least troublesome system you can have for engaging the pto. Good luck & enjoy that tractor.
