Looking for some help. 2638 HST. Worked fine for about 2 hours today and then rpms dropped and no matter what I did with the throttle it wouldn’t get above 500 rpm. Tried to park it and it just stalls out. Battery is brand new, battery connections are good. Plenty of diesel in tank, air filters look good. Approx 150 hours on the machine.

Any warning lights on the dash? It sounds like it has gone into limp mode. It could be fuel filter as well but it not changing at all with the throttle leads me to believe the ECM is holding it back.

There were no lights that I saw. It happened once before not long ago and I filled up with fuel and then it ran fine. It did have half a tank when I filled it last time. It is almost full now but still acting up. I pulled the air filters out and then it ran great for a few minutes after putting them back in.

I'd pull the both of the fuel filters and check them.

You could also have something blocking the gravity feed tube from the tank to the fuel filters. Pull the fuel line on the right side of the engine before the fuel filter and see if you have good gravity flow. If so, pull the line in front of the Bosch filter on the left and crank it a little to see if you get good flow. (be careful when disconnecting this line, as it's probably pressurized.... a lot!)

And before you do any of that, just for $hitz & giggles, check your throttle cable. Maybe you'll get lucky and it came loose, and be a simple fix.

Throttle cable is good as when I adjust it I can see it moving whatever throttle assembly it is connected too. I ordered new fuel filters as they should probably be changed anyways. I appreciate your help on this. Has anyone ever added a fuel shut off right under the take to make for easier fuel filter changes or is this a fairly straight forward process. Having never done it. The dealer I bought the unit from is no longer servicing Mahindra and the next nearest is over 2 hours away.

Most of us use vise grips or something similar to "pinch" off the fuel line before the right side filter. You could certainly add a valve if you wanted to. That would be the "correct" way to do it. But (I think) the filter interval change is 500 hours, so your valve wouldn't get used much.

I get my filters from amazon or ebay and use Wix filters for almost everything.

The Bosch filter on the left doesn't have a Wix clone, and it also has an electronic sensor that you need to transfer to the new filter you're getting (don't forget to use the "O-ring" from the old filter and put it on the new one where the sensor screws into the bottom of the filter.) Unplug the connector at the bottom before unscrewing the filter.

HPCR systems are very picky when it comes to fuel as they have to be CLEAN. Bosch says to change the screw on filter after X amount of hours or EVERY YEAR. I change it every other year but I filter new fuel before dumping it in the tank & try to keep it full to limit condensation. Try and get a sample of fuel preferably from the bottom and check it out. It should be clear no matter what color. You don't want to see any brown / black goo floating around in there.
