Buying Advice 27 ton 208 cc Log Splitter

It has been awhile and I am planning on pulling the trigger tomorrow. I have decided to go with iron and oak. The choices are an iron/oak 22 ton with a 5.5 hp Honda gx or a 26 ton with a 9 hp Subaru robin.

The price is the same, both are used and priced at $1400.00. The 26 on is lightly newer . Both have a 12 second cycle time. Thoughts???

I have the 27 ton Troy Bilt from Lowes with the 5.5hp Honda for a number of years now and it's worked flawlessly. I think they sell for $1400 new but I was told that Lowes has started putting a 10% off coupon in the free package the post office gives you to change your mailing address. Plus they were on sale the last time I was in the local store up here.

I ended up buying the 26 ton. We talked price a little more and came to an agreement. Overall it is in great shape. I am in the process of making a table/cradle for it.

I am in the market for a log splitter and want to discuss a specific one. Where is the right place to post this?

The one I am looking at is a 27ton, 208 cc logsplitter. I believe they are all made by the same company and arfe being sold under Craftsman, Troy-Bilt and MTD

I bought this splitter-- very satisfied with the machine-- Very dissatisfied with Sears customer service. Machine is a log killer-- Chews up large red oak with relative ease. Keep an eye on fluid levels and it will take care of your needs

We have the troy-built unit. Has been an awesome machine! Just don't put diesel in it! Inside joke with my FIL... I had diesel in a red jug. He poured it in the splitter. Drained tank and carb, runs fine again.
