270 New Holland baler

I've been having problems with my baler. I think I have the timing issues figured out, but now it doesn't trip. The trip arm works just fine, but when it gets to the top and clicks back, nothing happens. Tried pushing it into gear, but it still won't start the needles or anything. Really confused right now.

Any ideas??

Is the little tab on the bottom of knotter clutch (knotter stop) releasing. That operates the knotter function. I have a 269 that I have been doing serious battle with. I wish there was a NH small rectangle baler only forum, I'd wear them out with all my difficulties. I had chain length (had to have a specific number of links in it) got that resolve and then there wasn't enough movement of the slack adjuster to take of the slack in the chain. Finally installed a bigger diameter slack tensioner and that was just barely enough. Then had to make sure to keep knotter brake tight enough to keep the needle rack from creeping down. I won't get into the knotter tying issues here just not enough space and no one would be able to read it in one sitting. SSoo with that preamble, welcome to the wonderful world of NH knotters. Seriously though, good luck. I found a NH factory video that went over the knotter operation that helped some. You'll have just do a search on NH knotters to find it. bjr

There is a sheer pin in my 268 on the outside end (flywheel side). Make sure you replace this with a sheer or grade 2 . Sounds like what happens when it sheers? But I think I may not be visualizing you're issue so... Here is a pic too. Post back on what you find. Jj
