The shuttle shift lever on my 2706E is difficult to move from forward to reverse. Is there a grease point that I am missing?

I guess I am the only one to experience this, I did however resolve the problem. I spoke with my MF dealer and they said it was the first they had heard of this issue and recommended I use a penetrating oil on the linkage. I removed the plastic covers from below the steering column and the shuttle shifter and found the linkage to be covered with surface rust. I sprayed the entire assembly down with WD-40 and that seemed to fix the problem.

Good to know I just picked up a new 2017 2705e and the shuttle is a little stiffer than I expected it to be. I assume from it sitting on the lot it could have grown some rust. I'll have to dig into it and add penetrating oil to it.

The shuttle lever has always seemed to me to require excessive effort on my (larger) MF2660. I have never been able to get in the console to lubricate anything. It usually does not get so stiff as to really matter. Back in the infant mortality years of this machine it got impossible to operate and came apart inside. Repaired under warrantee. In the last 3-4 years no problems, but it just seems apparently by design to be stiffer than I would like it. I was spoiled by a 2000 model JD4700 which had a "Power Reverser" that was very smooth and easy to operate.

Mine seems to be very stiff as well. Almost to the point of having to force and then it sort of clicks into forward. Glad I seen this as I’m going to take cover off and check mine. I had to loosen the bolt under the hydronic up and down lever when I got it. It was way to tight causing lever to be hard to move up and down. There a bolt connecting the to rod linkage with rubber washers I loosened. Mine also seems to be hard to get into high gear. Any one else have that issue? Like it want to grind some even when stopped & under no load? I love the 2706E other that. Well I wish they made a cab for it!

I usually take them apart and remove the shift handle completely.

I wire brush the lever, clean the bushings, and antiseize the lever and bushings.

There is a company that produces a penetrating oil called triflow. This is a Teflon based product. It seems to stay much longer than WD-40.

I have, however, teased the idea of installing a grease fitting, but don't want to push the bushings out with the grease gun.
