John Deere 2720
The dealer dropped off the 2720 bright and early this morning - back from having them install the 200CX loader and 3rd SCV valve. I won't have time to try anything out until I get home from work but I thought I would post a few photos. As you can see, the 3rd SCV handle can be attached horizontally or vertically. I think I'm going to swap it to the vertical position to keep it away from the rock shaft lever. I'll add more once I get my hydraulic top-link reinstalled and bucket hooks bolted on.

I tried to take some photos of where the 3rd SCV hydraulic lines attach but there isn't much room to get the camera in there. I still have to decide what I'm going to use to fill the ballast box.

jgayman they certainly do good work. Nice looking tractor. I vote for the vertical position also!

My question what is the purpose of the third valve ?

You can use the rear ports for anything you want. In my case I use them for a hydraulic top-link. Some use it for a rear blade with hydraulic angle control, or even a log splitter. As you can see, having one on the rear is the bare minimum. It's not hard to see how two or three on the rear would be useful for a top-N-tilt system or hydraulic chute and spout control on a rear blower, etc.

The third function can also be used up front for a 4way bucket, a blade with tilt, snow blowers, grapple, etc. many uses.

The 3rd SCV was $1021 installed.

Not a bad price turn key. It's not too difficult to self install for the cost of parts which is probably around $400 from the dealer.

Agree. I had initially considered ordering the kit and attempting it myself but I could not find the instruction document to get a sense of the level of effort. Either way I would have had to buy the $800 kit so I figured while the tractor was in for the loader install I might as well just pay the $240 and have them do it. It, along with the loader is now fully under my warranty umbrella.

I decided to load my ballast box with concrete bricks. I did some quick calculations on how many it would hold. JD specs lists the box as 4.7 cu. ft. but my tape measure indicates more like 4.22 cu.ft. It ended up holding 105 concrete bricks weighing 4.375 lbs each for a total of 459 lbs + 43 lbs of Pea Gravel + the 88 lb box for a grand total of 590 lbs. It only took around 15-mins to load-up the bricks so it will be easy to empty out if I ever have to.

I may end up taking out the top row of 13 bricks (57 lbs) to allow me to store a big tool box which holds my tow chains and other larger items.

With the loaded ballast box and loaded rear tires I'm hoping I am set. Although I do plan to use a set of Artillian forks and I see JD recommends another couple hundred pounds if forks will be used.
