A few days ago I was moving some heavy rocks on my property. While dumping a large rock, my bucket refused to curl from the dump position causing me to shout ~~!! What the **** now~~!! within seconds I smelled hydraulic fluid and noticed it spitting from above the Belly deck. Turns out, I blew a hose coming from the diverter valve which handles the curl function and hydraulic belly mower ( 62D )lifter. No big deal I thought ! this is an easy fix and removed both lines so as to remove the busted line from the protective sock. Had a new line made up and re installed it thinking , ****,!! that was easy!! till I started the tractor and backed it out of my shop. Then came the trouble as it will dump but not curl. Decided to bleed the lines at the cylinders with no help, then decided to switch the easy disconnects from one to the other which allowed me to curl but not dump. So, what now?? While holding it in the dump position, I can hear the pump loading up and see a slooooooooow dump that takes forever. So here I am screaming HELLLLLLPPP!!!!! Anyone with this problem please help~~!!!

The hyd system will bleed it self just open and close the bucket it will remove the air . Did you check the hyd oil level?

I had a similar problem, it turned out to be the a quick coupler. My problem happened when I was dumping a load of brush with the grapple while at the same time pushing into the pile. I treated a high pressure surge that damaged the coupler.
I would bet the coupler on return side of the curl is bad. If the pump is "loading" it sounds like it is sending oil to the cylinders however if return side is blocked there is no place for the oil to go so the cylinder "Locke up". To find my problem I removed the return side coupler and put the hose in a bucket to collect the oil, sure enough the curl worked! Changed the couplers and all was well.

Sometimes just disconnecting and reconnecting the couples works.

Thanks for sharing, So, I did just remove and re set the quick couplers and got no good result. my next move I think will answer most questions if not fix the problem. I am about to remove both lines again, and replace the O rings. If that does not work I'll go with your solution of changing the couplers but cannot do that since today is Sunday and the store with hopefully the correct parts will be closed. anyway. I hope to see a few more opinions here before I pull the hair out of my head on this. Grinzzzz~!! Thanks again and Happy new year to all here~!!

The O-rings just seal the connection, they will not prevent it from working. The way it was explained to me is... if your quick couplers leak when you have the male end inserted then it is the O-ring. If the quick coupler leaks with the male end removed it is a bad coupler and must be replaced (assuming there is not dirt or debris preventing the open coupler from sealing).

Hey every little tip helps, and thanks for this information on testing for the problem ! have been busy and did not get back to it as yet but this is important for me to know. Lets just hope I can find new couplers on this island if it turns out to be the problem. I'll keep you all posted on my results.

Ok first off, thanks to all the tips I got on this problem. your replies are valuable and that's what makes this forum such a great tool. Now, because of where I live in the islands, parts take time to get here and are also difficult to find. I use the green parts store most times with some success. Turns out to be a failed female quick coupler as the culprit. After painful trials and failures I have decided that the hose failure was created when the coupler failed to pass pressure and forced the weakest link to blow out. The way I proved the problem was by switching hoses to determine function of the curl and dump pistons, I used the belly mower hydraulics which told me they were fine, took the hoses off and blew them out to be sure they were clear of debris. and from there it could only be the couplers. New ones arrived today and were installed, and all is well. Thanks again to those that made suggestions
