I'm planning on buying a tractor soon and am thinking of either the 2810 or 2615. The tractor would be gear driven with FEL & BH. Which one should I go with? I've been told the 2810 has been discontinued. Thanks.

It would depend on your lot size and intended usage. The 2615 is a lighter tractor then the 2810. The 2810 is much heavier and is more of a work horse (it also costs more).

What size lot do you have?
What do you want to do with it?
How hard are you going to use it?

If the 2810 is discontinued then I'm sure we will get some more confirmation here.

The project that I'll be using the equipment on is only two acres but there's quite a bit of digging to do - ripping up pavement, digging for post and foundation work etc. I've heard that the hydraulics on the 2810 are weaker than the 2615.

The 2810 has been discontinued as the 15 series covers that HP range now. When you compare lift capacities and especially the backhoe specs, you'll see that the 2615 does quite well against the 2810. I'd also say to not be afraid of buying a 2810 just because the model has been replaced.

I have done a fair amount of digging with my 2615 Gear. It has done amazingly well. I would recommend a toothbar for the FEL as it is kind of light duty and will bend if put to the test (trust me I know). You may also want to consider getting the bucket strengthened by a local welder if you really plan on using it for aggressive digging.

Maybe you should consider a 3015HST. The HST is probably a lot easier for loader and hoe work. Gears can be tiring when you are doing a lot of back and forward changes.

I have a 2810 HST with a 3375 hoe on a sub frame. If you are going to be doing much backhoe work or loader work you might want to look at the HST. It is a lot easier on the operator.

Also look at the area you will be digging. The sub frame for the hoe on the 15 series is under the tractor and the sub frame for the hoe on the 10 series is beside the tractor frame.

I had a new tractor with the sub frame under the tractor I used for a while. I didn't like it after using my 10 series

Both the Mahindra tractor series are fine, but for me the Dayco Hoe on a sub frame , and the way they mount and come off make the 10 series shine for a small hoe.

Look at both tractors with the hoe on them and check your ground clearance. Then ask yourself if you want to be dragging a hoe that low to the ground around on a construction sight.

And it is not just the 15 series Mahindra , I don't like any of the Hoes that the sub frame hangs down under the tractor.

I'm over in the Claremont area if you would like to try on out.

I have the 2615 hst and is serves me will . the bucket I did buile up some though.. a little extra support here and there, no big deal though. I have been using it like a little bull dozer and it is a tough bad boy and easy to use. I also have forks for the fel and it works great for a raised platform for painting the house and putting stuf fin the barn loft. Plenty of power.
