Familiar with tractors in general, but picked up a 2815 HST the other day for use around the homestead. I have 2 questions so far.
1. The HST dipstick looks like its been ground on one side, and when the tractor is running and I remove it I can feel it hit some of the drive line gears. Is that normal?
2. I was recording the S#’s and getting ready to do a service and noticed this tractor has a turbo, the 3215 has a turbo but I thought the 2815 did not? Engine model says its a turbo? Anyone know why this is? Any discussion? Is this think a weird duck, and should I be concerned?

Thanks for comments,
Mike

Welcome to the forum. I wonder if your dipstick is not OEM. I've never tried removing mine with the engine running, but it doesn't sound normal. I don't see how drive line gears can turn at idle unless you mean running and moving. My dipstick is smooth on one side and has what I'll call factory cross-hatch marks on the other side to aid in viewing fluid level.

As for the turbo, perhaps it was special ordered for a customer to use at high elevation. TractorData.com doesn't show the 2815 equipped with one.

After looking at parts breakdowns I see where the pro drive gears, and range possibly. The PTO I believe travels live through that area before the stub is engaged, so even with the pto disengaged the gear is turning?
Anyway looking further it looks like the factory dipstick, but MIGHT be a little bent? I will order another new one top put in and not check it running, although I “think” I saw in the OPS manual that it should be warmed up and running to check?

My thoughts on the turbo as well. I guess I don’t really care it would just be nice to know if it was from the factory, or replaced somewhere down the line from some sort of failure.
I do know the Loader Bracket mods were installed, so that is good.

I have downloaded the Operators manuals for the Backhoe and Tractor, it is nice that Mahindra has that resource, but cant get the ML 111 loader one. Using the serial number it wont locate a manual, So if you know of someone who has an electronic copy of that it would be nice to get that.

Thanks,

Mike

You may be chasing a problem that doesn't exist. The OEM dipstick has approximately a 10 degree bend at the bottom.

Hmmm. Ok

I think I’ll let it be.

That is what I am finding. I removed it and very carefully straightened it. Problem averted.
