Looking really hard at some left over 2850s because the 2M.50 seems to have jumped a whole bunch of money. really not a fan of hydrostatic transmissions as a heavy equipment operator for the last 40 years and being used to a power shuttle in loners and backhoes so I'm wondering if anybody has tried both of them and has a verdict?

I dont have personally experience with them, but ive lusted after a 2860M power shuttle for a few years...

The power shuttle excels at loader work, moving stuff. Despite the common wisdom, I think its actually superior to hydro for grading, loader work. PTO work, the hydro allows that infinite speed control, while running at the 540 PTO. So, its a use case question.

Power shuttle is awesome for dirt work, cause you add power as you want, like going into the pile, very naturally. The hydro, your running WFO all the time, but the PS, you drive in, peddle in till you slow, lift the foot, and shuttle to reverse, and peddle down again. To me, its just the "natural" way to run dirt engaging.

Running wide open is exactly why I don't really want a Hydro....

Box blade and grading work, same, you can be at half or quarter throttle, and add power with the foot as needed against the load.

Ive never really plowed fields, just some small areas with a small chisel plow (on a small hydro), so with a turn plow or disc, actual ground speed is important to get the effect needed; no matter the current load on the engine; i would "think" a PS is a workable option, but probably straight gear to the ground speed, and run full power throttle no matter the resistance?
