I have had two NH 2910 tractors and both have had power steering leaks in the steering column housing area between the upper and lower half of the unit. Have had both rebuilt at the local dealer to no avail. The first one the dealer told me that it had had bypass surgery as there was an additional line from one of the lines in the port area of the lower half back to the lower end, worm gear area, of the column. I dont remember whether this additional line came from a pressure or a dump line. After the rebuild it just kept leaking and I sold it. Tractor #2 I bought on ebay with only 560 or so hours. Good tight tractor except the power steering leaks which drives me nuts. I have had it rebuilt for the exact same leak between the upper and lower half. It did not leak for maybe 100 hours of use after this rebuild but it is now leaking from this area again. Steering effort is fair but not like it should be i dont think. Evert trip to the dealer is approx 350.00 to 450.00. Should I replace the steering column at approx 1200.00. Is the pump putting out too much or too little pressure. What I do know is that if you break the upper and lower apart there is a plug in the top of the lower that comes out, I am not sure how, and there is a adjustment of some sort there at the bottom of that drilled hole.
