I have a 2012 MX5100 HST. It has 1 rear remote and I wanted to add a second. Sounds simple right? I have been to 3 different dealers and have gotten 3 different answers. first said cant do it, second said he could but wouldnt provide any part numbers or pricing, the third said I had to spend $1k to remove the first valve and install 2 new ones.

My tractor currently has a rear remote that has no detent, it returns to center when you let go. I was looking to add a valve with a detent so I could run my log splitter without having to use a bungee cord to hold the valve.

Anyone have some part numbers for adding a seconf rear remote to my tractor?

many thanks,

Go to Kubota parts 'put in MX5100. Choose the tractor you have. Choose options. There is all the info that you should need. Lot of $$$$ vs a bungee for :2cents:

Check with Messick's, I would bet that they will even help you out over the phone.

It will surprise me if a control valve with detent will remain in detent once log spitter cylinder reaches it's full stroke. I'll bet detent will release spool on tractor to travel to neutral position. Remote valves on my M7040 appear to be stack-able type valves. All that's needed to add a valve is another valve plus longer bolts and the control handle with cable.

I agree that a detent valve is not going to provide you with any improvement over what you have now with the bungee cord. In fact, you will most likely just create more problems, plus the added chances for leaks once you disturb the existing valve package.

There are different types of detent valves. The one that you are thinking of kicks off when a cylinder reaches the end of it's stroke. Known as a self canceling detent. This type of valve acts as a typical spring return to center valve other than the detent feature and you have a choice to make use of that feature or not.

There are detent valves that are intended to be used as feeder valves. This type of valve is basically just a power beyond source without the hose loop when not connected. Commonly used for implements that have their own control valves mounted on the implement. This type of valve will not kick off when the cylinder reaches the end of it's stroke. This type of detent valve is a common type that I supply as a 3rd party supplier and works well for it's intended use, not so well for simply controlling the direction of a cylinder. The spring return to center feature is not there and the valve basically stays where it is put.

Some of the Kubota valves have these features, but Kubota offers different types of valves with the different models, so what might be available on an L may not be available on an MX and the same goes for the Ms.

Either way, it still seems like a lot of money to spend just to not have to use a bungee cord.

Maybe the OP can fabricate a latch to latch the lever in the open position. That would be a clean permanent solution and a lot less money than getting a 2nd valve, if the type of valve that he needs is even available for his tractor.

Why wouldn't u just add the backhoe ports?

If the power beyond ports is all that you need-or going to have, then cost wise that is the thing to have.

But then you have to have a hose connecting the power beyond ports. The power beyond ports for a back hoe have to always be open, always having the ports connected. Just a bit cleaner to connect to a valve and put that valve in the open detent position to feed the hoe, or log splitter or whatever requires a constant flow of fluid. Now this applies to a machine that has or is going to have other rear remotes, if not, then yes just do the power beyond port type connections with the connecting hose. ;)

Again, just my opinion, others will vary.

I ran my splitter with the last tractor by holding the valve open with a piece of wire and it worked just a well as the detent I have now.

If the existing valve is an OEM part there may be a detent kit available...
