3 cyl perkins crankshaft end play.

Massey Ferguson 35 with 3 cylinder Perkins AD3.152 engine. Had a bad oil leak coming from weephole under the tractor. So I split tractor and remove clutch and flywheel and adaptor plate. There I find the rear oil seal cover assy broken in 2 places. So thats where my oil leak was coming from but why did it break? Well the crankshaft end play was .146 thousanths and suppose to be .03-.015 I believe. I removed the oil pan and the rear main bearing cap.The thrust bushings were worn thin and started eating into the cap and block just a little.What is the correct way for these thrust bushing to be installed? any help is appreciated

They have tabs on them that hold them in position but need to be installed when the crankshaft is installed. The tabs wouldn't give clearance after the crank is in . You must have other issues with the crankshaft at this point.

yes i do have problems,I guess whoever built the engine before I got it only put one set of thrust bushings in and the crank had so much end play that it busted the rope seal retainer causing a bad oil leak and messing up crank journal cap. but anyhow i got to have another block

These are one of the least expensive engines to rebuild. Unfortunately you need a new/used block to add in. The previous engine assembler needs to not build anymore engines. There may be a good running Perkins out there with your name on it. Keep the adaptor plate that's on the back of the engine. Good luck with your journey.
I'm suspecting you know the main bearing caps are not interchangeable to any other block.
