Hi, I am looking for a good 3 point brush mower that can knock down small saplings around 3"-4".
I am looking for a new one.

Thanks.

yikes?

ditto. 4" tall.. anything will do that... even a finish mower.

3" - 4" ? even green.. that requires a demo mower...

I have accidentally knocked over and chewed up 3" green flexible trees with a heavy duty 10' mower and 72-95 hp behind it.. but it sounded like the world was ending while it chewed it.

I don't intentionally hit larger than 2.. and really don't like hitting 2 very often..

mora data please

Hi. It would be trees 3-4" in diameter. Not cutting grass I am clearing brush for hunting trails.
I have a Massey 202 workbull with a loader that I will use for it.

Thanks

Well then, the size of material knocks the King Kutter out of the race and the size of the tractor knocks the Brown Tree Cutter out.

What are we cutting? Oak? Pine?

A Ratchet Rake will yank those. Wedge it into the front-facing teeth to lift the roots a bit... perhaps all the way out. If they don't come right up, then grab and push out the root ball with the lower teeth. I've had success with that, if I didn't just grab it with my backhoe & thumb and tug it around and out. Sounds like you have a bunch, so the RR would probably be better.

Well said.

To the OP, you will tear up your small tractor trying to cut 3" - 4" diameter trees. You would need something like the Brown model that DT86 mentioned, a Bush Hog 320 series (rated for up to 3.5" material) or a Rhino 400 series (rated for up to 4.5" material). But, for example, the Bush Hog 325 5' cutter rated for 3.5" material requires a minimum 50hp tractor according to Bush Hog's specs.

The Ratchet Rake suggested by Shutesbury sounds like a much better idea to me.

Several make cutters that will do it, Land Pride has their RCF36. I have cut stuff like that with several tractors, but as mentioned, it is hard on the nerves and equipment and try to avoid anything more than doing small areas and only occasionally. A couple of years ago we just rented a tracked skid steer to uproot them, we still wound up with a couple of flats on our tractors during clean up.

Good luck.

this is a job for rented demo equipment sized and application specific for the task.. vs beating the tar out of your tractor.

Thanks for the suggestions & I agree I will look to rent the equipment to do the job.
