Anyone use one of these? The dealer I just bought my 1705 from took one in on trade for a zero turn yesterday that is like new, he said he sells them for $2300 new and if I wanted it he would hook it to my tractor before it leaves and put it through the shop to make sure all is well for $900.. It's a 60inch model. It is a del morino..

I run a 4 foot Del Marino and a 5 foot Woods RMMs. The DelMarino is heavy for a finish mower, but it does a nice job. It's a rear discharge. The Woods is a side discharge. It does a nice job also, but I think it takes more power than just the extra foot of width. I bought RMMs because I wanted mowers I could hook and unhook quickly and easily, since we use our tractors for tillage, backhoe work, and garden/lawn/loader chores. I like both units, but don't let your grass get too long. You'll have wheel tracks in back of the mower where the tires pushed the grass down, and the mower couldn't pull it up to cut it. I got a similar deal with the DelMarino. The dealer showed me list price-$1650(2008). He said he could move all the 5-footers he could get in, but the 4-footer was on the lot almost a year, and offered it to me for $850. I like it.

Del Morino is an Italian manufacturer and from all I can see is mostly is sold in Canada here in North America. Parts might be hard to find locally should you need them. If he carries that brand, parts may not be difficult to come by. I would ask how long he's carried that brand and if he stocks any repair or replacement parts for it. There are some sources online, and the company's footprint seems to be growing. I'd not be overly concerned.

You can buy cheap 60" finish mowers for $900 and spend as much as $2500. I would not pass it up personally. I imagine he is just looking to "cash out" that trade and is only concerned with getting enough to cover it and the bit of shop time to set it up for you. He's already made his profit from your sale, now his profit from the zero turn is in the form of a used piece of hardware. Cash it out to you on a deal and profit from your tractor and the other person's zero turn is all in the dealer's pocket right now...

I run a 60 inch on my Kioti, it's a Fantastic mower. Does a nicer cut than my little JD lawn tractor. It also works as my counter weight for bucket work all summer long.

Have a frontier 5" finish which I got with the tractor in 1011 - does a great job. I do ~2 acres of lawn & often use it in areas that are a bit overgrown (back 40) with shrubs that aren't quite worth hooking the rotary mower up for - goes through them with no problem.

I just looked the specs up and it says it is best used with 25-30HP tractors, is the 5ft gonna run okay on the 22,5hp 1705? I'm going to use it on a small lawn, I was thinking of just selling my Ariens and using this instead..

You should be OK with that horsepower. I have an old Caroni 5-footer that I use on a Ford 1210 (16 or 17 HP) and it works fine. Same tractor didn't handle a 5 foot Landpride very well. That deck was too heavy for the little tractor. It was max for the 21 HP B7500. The difference in the required horsepower was due to the weight. The Landpride was a very heavily built piece of equipment.
